In Summer 2023, the College of LAS announced that all LAS courses must be hosted on the Canvas learning management system by FA24. After two decades of using Moodle, many faculty members expressed concern about the future of their course materials.
To aid Moodle users in this transition, ATLAS developed the Moodle LTI, an external tool that can plug Moodle content into Canvas, just like any other third-party tool in Canvas. ATLAS launched a pilot of the LTI in FA23 with around 10 courses, and had around 50 courses using it for SP24.
New features and improvements are still being developed, as ATLAS receives feedback from instructors. ATLAS staff on both the user support and DevOps side of the project will share milestones and challenges from the past year, and provide a glimpse into what’s still to come.
