Trust the Process: Defining a Path to Applied Technology Solutions

Description:

If an applied technology solution is the answer, what was the question?

In this session, we’ll learn how to plan for a technology solution by beginning at the end. We’ll cover some helpful practices, general roadmaps, and collectively mourn all of the failed projects of the past. We’ll talk desired outcomes, minimum viable products, and identifying/engaging stakeholders. The jokes will be average, and the acronyms will be minimal.

Technology can’t be applied to a problem without first identifying what it’s trying to solve. Join a discussion on how to serve our university by way of small steps and incremental changes that add up to a large difference.

About this event:

Presenters:

  • Todd Reese, Sr Integration Specialist, Applied Technologies for Learning in the Arts & Sciences

Track:

Reroute to Efficiency — Streamline processes at warp speed to reduce complexity and improve operations.

Experience Needed:

All Levels

Learning Outcome:

The hope would be that somebody knowing nothing about defining a process for an applied technology solution would have a starting point for their own professional needs, and anybody that has experience in this area would pick up some tips they maybe hadn’t thought of before. If people could leave with nothing else, I would like it to be knowing that their ability to plan and define a solution before any development steps are taken will make or break the success of their project.
