Rob Bennett

Instructional Technology Facilitator, Engineering IT Shared Services

Rob Bennett and a banjo, Krannert Art Museum, October 2024

Rob’s interests in music and technology are both lifelong and intertwined. Once upon a time, Rob earned a Master of Arts degree in music composition from the University of Iowa by extensively manipulating the sounds of one of his cats in software (this, naturally, was when cats were cool / before cats sold out). In the mid-2010s, he switched from a career in the music theory professoriate to a career in instruction-adjacent IT, joining the University of Illinois in 2019 and the Instructional wing of EngrIT in March 2024. A once and probably future member of the IT Pro Forum committee, Rob is slowly, but possibly surely, working toward becoming both a woodworker and some kind of evil-genius embedded-systems-kinda-stuff maker wizard.
